Rebuilt turbos and actuators are sold with a core deposit. This page explains what a core is, how much the deposit is and how to get it back.
What is a core?
The core is the old part you take off your engine. When you buy a rebuilt replacement, you pay a refundable core deposit, and you get it back when you return your old part to us.
Your core must be like-for-like with the part you bought and come with all the pieces that were on the replacement you received. Send it the way it came off the engine. We cannot accept cores damaged by fire, and cores damaged during removal may not be accepted.
Core deposit
- Turbochargers: $600 core deposit per turbo.
- Actuators: $400 core deposit per actuator.
Two ways to handle your core
Option 1 – Send your core first
Ship your old core to us before your order goes out and you won’t pay the core deposit. You don’t have to wait for it to arrive: send us the tracking number or proof of shipment, and we ship your part the same day.

Option 2 – Pay the deposit and send your core later
We charge the core deposit with your order. Return your old core within 45 days of the date your part shipped and you get the full deposit back.
- Cores returned after 45 days receive a refund of 50% of the deposit.
- After 3 months, cores are accepted at the discretion of 4You Truckparts.
How to ship your core
- Use a box strong enough for the weight of the part.
- Seal the core inside a plastic bag so nothing leaks.
- Pack at least two inches of cushioning around the part, on every side of the box.
- Include a copy of your invoice or your RMA number so we know whose core it is. Without it, your refund may be delayed.
- Send the core complete and assembled.
The customer pays all shipping costs for cores. 4You Truckparts is not responsible for cores that arrive damaged, for freight penalties or for lost shipments.
Inspection and refund
When your core arrives, we inspect it and grade it against our core criteria. Full or partial refunds are processed within 1 to 3 business days.
- A core must be in rebuildable condition to receive the full deposit back.
- Missing components can reduce the amount refunded.
- We may reject a core, or credit only part of the deposit, if it does not meet our core criteria.
